Pr. Paul Blake co-Pastors Acts of the Holy Spirit Ministries Int’l, Mandeville with his wife Pr. Dorrett. He is the Music minister/Worship leader.
Coming from a secular musical background Pr. Paul was the lead singer and co-founder of the internationally acclaimed Reggae Band ‘The Blood Fire Posse’. With them he traveled around the world gaining valuable experience and training for the call of God even though he didn’t know at the time.
From a toddler he was always involved in music. His dad was the director of the Band for the Jamaica Constabulary Force. He absolutely enjoyed just watching and dancing to the marching beats.
Years later at his high school Kingston College (KC), he was selected to be a part of the choir which happened to be the very best in the Caribbean. There he was trained professionally. A little before graduating he started singing at secular concerts where he excelled. He was the runner up in the first acclaimed Tastee Talent Competition in 1979. (He only recently got over the pain of losing by 3 points…he thought he should’ve won).
He spent many years singing cabaret on the North Coast (hotel industry). After being encouraged to write and record his own songs by his mom, he started recording and his very first song ‘Rub a dub soldier’ topped the charts. His second ‘Every posse get flat’ far outsold his first. He later went on his own and recorded with friends ‘Give peace a chance’ for peaceful elections in Jamaica. For this effort he received many accolades and awards.
Then God spoke and he answered. He did his final secular performance December 31, 1999.
He was Worship leader at Family Church on the Rock under Pr. David Keane, Music minister/Worship leader at Faith Fellowship Ministries Jamaica which later became Lighthouse of Faith Ministries under Pr. Phillip Gordon.
With his wife he started Sold Out Ministries Int’l in 1997 ministering in hospital, prison, schools, on the streets. Eventually God led them to start a Street Church for the homeless in 2006 and eventually Acts of the Holy Spirit Ministries Int’l in 2009.
Well God spoke again and told them to move to Mandeville and start the Ministry there. They obeyed and now oversee the Montego Bay branch pastored by their son Pr. Stephen. Their daughter Minister Tiffany is the Worship leader in Montego Bay.
Pr. Paul has been married to Pr. Dorrett for 26 years and they have overcome turbulent times including the filing of divorce to be here stronger than ever. To God be all the glory. As mentioned before they have two children Stephen (with his wife Jamie-lee) and Tiffany and one grandson Joshua Emanuel.
Founded in 1997, Acts of the Holy Spirit Ministries, formerly Sold Out Ministries, started as an outreach ministry with the mandate of reaching, rescuing and mentoring the rejected, abandoned, neglected in the streets, schools, communities and local prison. The turnaround in the lives of young men and women in the prisons and inner-city communities, schools and colleges, has been …
